Nairi joined the Canaan team in 2016 to lead Marketing and Communications. Prior to joining Canaan Partners, Nairi was the Director of Corporate Communications at Uber. She joined the company in 2013 and served as Uber’s first head of global communications. At Uber, she led dozens of corporate announcements, product launches and public affairs campaigns around the world.
For Nairi, the transition to tech was a wonderful and unexpected detour from the rough and tumble of politics, where she spent much of her career. Nairi was Vice President of Strategic Communications at The Glover Park Group where she worked with corporate, nonprofit and advocacy clients on crisis management, reputation, advocacy, and thought leadership. Her clients included Planned Parenthood, Emily’s List, TPG, News Corp, and Current TV. Previously she was also the Policy Director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee during the 2010 midterm cycle, working with incumbents and challengers on messaging, debate prep and policy platforms.
PR Week and Business Insider both recently named Nairi as a top technology and innovation PR person. Nairi is a Silicon Valley native and began her career in then-Senator Joseph R. Biden, Jr.’s Senate office. She graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Government and holds a Master of Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and two children.
Knocking items off a to-do list, time with my family and two young children, quiet early mornings (whenever I can get them) and running. Not marathons. My Armenian heritage.
