Today we are excited to share that Michael Gilroy has been promoted to Partner.
Since joining the firm in in 2014, Michael has been a core member of our Enterprise and Fintech investment teams. As an Associate in his early days he sourced our investments in Arbor and Bellhops, and also worked closely with companies like Rocketrip and Tubular.
Four and a half years, a wedding and a move from our New York office to San Francisco later, Michael is an invaluable member of our team. In that time, he has led investments in and serves on the boards of a cross-section of fintech and SaaS companies including machine learning compliance solution Beam, digital analytics engine ContentSquare, pay-as-you-drive insuretech platform Hugo, and SMB SaaS platform ScaleFactor.
Michael is incredibly hands-on with the companies in his own portfolio but also lives that ethos of true partnership with every Canaan portfolio company. He’s also an ardent advocate for the importance of unit economics, even at the earliest stages and his companies know it...
In his time at Canaan, he’s also cultivated and supported the fintech community through a quarterly and bi-coastal FinTech Central event series that has included speakers like Jackie Reses of Square, Zach Perret of Plaid, Jon Stein of Betterment, Brad Garlinghouse of Ripple, Ryan Caldbeck of CircleUp, Lisa Edgar of Top Tier Capital and many many others.
Entrepreneurs and their teams love working with Michael - and so do we. We’re proud to share his well-earned promotion.
